Levels of Study: Youniversity Music Major*

An enhanced version of the Youniversity Minor, the Youniversity Major represents an intensive course of music study that includes instruction in performance (music lessons) as well as music theory, ear training, analysis, and music history on a weekly basis.

Prerequisites

Program Requirements

  • Weekly music lessons of 60 minutes or longer

  • Weekly tutorial sessions in music theoretical areas of 30 minutes or longer

  • Students enrolled in the Major pursue The Royal Conservatory Music Development Program on an ongoing basis and participate in the annual assessments

  • Students perform at least twice a year in special public showcase recitals offered by The YOU

The Youniversity Major Is the Right Choice for Students who . . .

  • would like to excel in music

  • have aspirations to become professional musicians

With these Basic Assumptions in Mind, Youniversity Majors Are Expected to

  • be self-motivated, disciplined, and hard-working in their musical studies

  • enjoy performing in public and seek out regular performance opportunities

  • enter music competitions on their instrument (and in voice) as appropriate to their level of training
